Nate’s verbose write-up on installing Justice v 0.1 (should work also for Liberty)

Disclaimer: This turned into an expensive article. I paid for the apps one at a time over the past year, so it doesn’t seem like that much money to me. Also, it makes the phone way more usable and actually makes me happy as a modder and a DX user. So, I realize that the apps are not free, but I am recommending them because they are the best I’ve found.

I’m starting from .340, that is stock Froyo Android. For instructions on how to get there, take a look at my post Flash Droid X back to stock Froyo 2.2.

* root your phone using z4root. Download app from this thread. The thread is approaching 1 year old, but it’s still the best way I’ve found to root the DX. Note, the su binary is outdated, but we’ll take care of that in the following steps.

Shopping list: JRummy16’s ROM Toolbox Pro, ClockworkMod’s ROM Manager (Premium), and ClockworkMod’s Droid X Recovery Bootstrap.

Open Droid X Bootstrap Recovery. Click “Bootstrap Recovery.” Congratulations, you now have the backing up and flashing capabilities of ClockworkMod Recovery.

Open ROM Manager. Click “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.” This will update you to the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery. At the time of this writing, that is 5.0.2.0, the one with blue text.

Open ROM Toolbox Pro. Go Tools>ROM Manager>ROM List. From here, you can choose whichever ROM you would like. I’m trying “Justice, Liberty ROM’s twin based on CM/AOSP.” Click to download.

Click Justice, select Install. Choose Wipe data/cache. And proceed!

w00t, you are done. Enjoy Justice, and that humble Android Open Source Project (AOSP) experience.
